Thaman turned a new leaf in his career by agreeing to be a judge on Telugu OTT platform aha’s reality show Telugu Indian Idol earlier this year. While most of his followers only got to know him from his media interactions till then, Telugu Indian Idol helped them understand Thaman on a deeper level - his outlook towards life, music, the fame he enjoys and still remains rooted.
In a press meet held yesterday for an announcement pertaining to Telugu Indian Idol’s finale, Thaman was at his candid best. “Not many would believe this but I am a very shy person generally. Even I can’t believe how I’ve transformed so much over the years. I give the credit to Allu Aravind garu for pushing my limits and transform for the better,” he said.
“Allu Aravind, in one of my lowest phases, gave a boost to my career with Sarrainodu and there has been no looking back ever since. People started looking at me in a different light since then. I have also associated with Allu Arjun for three biggest blockbusters - Race Gurram, Sarrainodu and Alaa Vaikunthapurramulo,” Thaman added.
While talking of his co-judge, singer Karthik, Thaman went back in time to remember the bond they forged during the making of Boys. “Karthik sang most of the numbers in Boys. He has an experience of participating in over 1 lakh recordings. We share a close bond and it was memorable to work with him for a show,” the composer shared.
On a lighter note, Thaman added that the show helped him understand the various shades of Nithya Menen during the making. “I got to explore a new side to her every time and she left us surprised more often than not,” he stated. Thaman lavished praise on Sreerama Chandra, crediting his skills as a host and how he brought a light-hearted touch to the show despite the seriousness around.
