Jim Carrey in bright green spandex spewing riddles at Val Kilmer’s Batman is our brightest memory of the DC villain. Those days will soon be replaced now with a dark and gritty iteration by Paul Dano in The Batman.
Already one of the most-awaited movies in the making, Paul Dano has now opened up about his costume from the movie. In an interview with Empire magazine, the actor said, “I think the potential DIY element you’re talking about was actually scarier to me than the more sophisticated or composed designs we might have played with. I found working with the costume to be very powerful.”
Dano added that when you put on a costume like that, there is a way to let it speak to you and tell your body something and that it has a life of its own.
The movie will offer a darker version of the popular villain in comparison to Carrey’s portrayal, and the director for the movie has earlier said that character was inspired by infamous serial killer, the Zodiac Killer.
The latest movie about The Caped Crusader is directed by Matt Reeves, and will be a dark, grounded and gritty production. While the movie has no connections with the DCEU movies, The Batman will follow Bruce Wayne, played by Robert Pattinson, in his first year in Gotham City as Batman.
Apart from Dano and Pattinson, the movie boasts of an impressive cast that includes Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Colin Farrell as Oswald "Oz" Cobblepot / Penguin.
