Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Shriya Pingaonkar’s riveting newsroom thriller was dropped on Zee5 on May 3. The eighth-episode series has been garnering positive reviews from viewers and critics alike. While the three main actors drive the show with their riveting performances, the other characters are also being noticed for their acting.
Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, who plays Juhi Shergil, becomes an integral part of the story and is evidently excited by all the good words. Her character has evolved from the previous season. The actress with a strong Bengali background shares bonding with Shriya’s character, Radha Bhargav. While being asked about her experience working with the stellar cast in The Broken News S2, Sanjeeta says that it was ‘an absolute delight!’ “Shriya Pilgaonkar and I bonded well during the first season almost as soon as we met. Our mutual love for travel, food, and music kept us coming back to each other. I’ve found a lifelong friend in her. Taaruk Raina (who plays Anuj) and I have known each other since I was in 8th grade! He is my school senior and we sang in the school band together. It’s great to have friends to lean on while shooting. This project is very special to me because of the people involved,” said the actress.
Sanjeeta does not share scenes with Jaideep. However, she found a friend in the actor. “Jaideep and I didn’t have any scenes together unfortunately but I’ve found a friend in him off-camera. Such an incredible actor and a genuinely warm and humble man. I look up to him,” she said.
Grammy-nominated singer-turned-actress Sanjeeta came under the spotlight with her character Helena, the hacker, in Jawan. Talking about her characters in these two projects, she said, “To prepare for a role I try to forget that it’s an act and tell myself I am that character. A lot of my learning is observational and the rest of the nuanced learning is from my peers on set. Helena was a vigilante, a loyal friend, and a lethal fighter. Juhi is more impressionable and innocent but her heart is in the right place and she fights for what’s right. In that regard, both Helena and Juhi are similar.”
