Actor Prashanth is all set to make a comeback of sorts with Andhagan. The film is a remake of the Hindi film Andhadhun, directed by Sriram Ragavan. The Tamil version is directed by Thiagarajan. The film has an ensemble star cast including Prashanth, Simran, Priya Anand, Karthik, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, Vanitha Vijayakumar, Manobala, KS Ravikumar,Urvashi, Leela Samson,Poovaiyar, Lakshmi Pradeep and SK Gopi to name a few.

Speaking about the film to a television channel, the director says, "Andhadhun was a film that was well received across the world. So there was a tough competition when it came to the film's remake rights."

He adds, "I met Sriram Raghavan a number of times during the process of getting the remake rights. I had earlier remade one of his Hindi films, Johnny Gaddaar. The Tamil film was titled Johnny and Prashanth had played the lead in it. Sriram asked me about certain things like where the remake was going to be set. When I said Pondicherry, he was extremely happy. He said that he was planning to shoot Andhadhun in Pondicherry, but things didn't materialise and he had to shoot in Pune. Pondicherry is perfect for the plot as it revolves around a musician, who also plays at a nightclub. Sriram Raghavan also shared a number of things, which were quite helpful."

The combination of Simran and Prashanth has also piqued the curiosity among fans. The duo has earlier worked in five films together and have churned out many successful films together. "Simran has a powerful character. This is the sixth time that they are coming together for a film. The combination of Prashanth and Simran has raised expectations for Andhagan from fans. They are considered a lucky pair."

The director says that Prashanth is in talks for many films. "Fans have been waiting to see a release of his on the big screen, so we are planning to release Andhagan directly in theatres. Prashanth is in talks for a number of films and I hope there are no huge gaps between films hereafter."
