The Electric State is round the corner, despite not much of a peep yet from the Russo brothers in case of trailers. The Netflix production marks the second venture of Russo brothers on Netflix after The Gray Man, with Anthony and Joe Russo directing it. The film’s screenplay was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The Electric State is rumored to be released on the streaming giant on April 26, 2024. The film stars a highly skilled ensemble cast, featuring the likes of Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Stanley Tucci, Jason Alexander, Woody Norman, and Ke Huy Quan. Since the film also has several significant robots, they had to be voiced by the starry likes of Jenny Slate, Giancarlo Esposito, Brian Cox, Billy Bob Thornton and Anthony Mackie.

Plot of The Electric State

The film traces the story of a young, orphaned girl, Michelle, essayed by Millie Bobby Brown, and her journey across a war-ravaged and dystopic American West landscape in search of her young brother. Set in an alternate United States in the ‘90s that is mostly devastated by a war between humans and robots.

While the remaining humans survive somehow, the scattered robotic drones roam the hostile landscape, a handful friendly, but most malignant and evil. Michelle, aided by a friendly robot sent by her brother and Keats, the mysterious smuggler, essayed by Pratt and his robotic sidekick (Mackie).

But if dangerous giant and varying robots and drones, and a hostile landscape is not all, she will have to avoid Marshall (Esposito), a blood-thirsty robot intent on foiling Michelle and killing her friendly robot. And after all that, Michelle will have to find her younger brother before he comes in the way of harm.

With its thrilling sci-fi premise, based in the ‘90s, the period-tech projects have started trending after the success of Stranger Things. When modern technology meets vintage heroes, our heartstrings are bound to twang and ripple. And The Electric State has it all with its thrilling story, talented cast, and expert brains behind the camera, tempting us with its potential summer release.
