The upcoming veteran actors Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty starrer The Kashmir Files is all geared up to hit the big screens on Republic Day, January 26 next year. Based on Kashmiri Hindu genocide of 1990, the movie is helmed by Vivek Agnihotri.
Makers of The Kashmir Files, Zee Studios recently took to social media to announce the exciting update of the movie’s release. In addition to this, Anupam Kher penned a meaningful post about his upcoming movie. He spoke of the Kashmiri hindus, whose story is finally seeing the light of day after 31 years. “There was every attempt made to suppress the darkest tragedy of Independent India. But now finally presenting the first ever true story of the Kashmir Genocide,” captioned the ace actor.
The poster, which came along with the movie’s release date announcement, was a bright orange picture of Jammu and Kashmir, which carried the subtext, ‘Right to Justice’.
Filming of The Kashmir Files was wrapped up during January, this year and Anupam Kher had taken to social media to announce the wrap by sharing a video of him along with the team of the movie.
The Kashmir Files marks Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial after his 2019’s thriller drama, The Tashkent Files. The latter was yet another hard-hitting film that spoke about the death of the former Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri. The upcoming movie is said to be made based on extensive research by the director by staying at an undisclosed location of the Himalayas to complete the script.
The Kashmir Files, after its run in theatres, will begin streaming on Zee5. The release date of the movie on the digital platform is yet to be announced.
