The Tamil trailer of Aamir Khan's much-awaited film Laal Singh Chaddha was released today. Releasing the trailer on its social media page, the film's production house wrote, "Thrilled to launch the Tamil trailer today in Chennai, and worldwide!#LaalSinghChaddha releases in cinemas worldwide on 11th Aug #AamirKhan #KareenaKapoorKhan #AdvaitChandan (sic).
The film is a remake of the 1994 American film, Forrest Gump, directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth. The plot of the film depicts the many years in the life Forrest Gump's life (Hanks), a slow-witted and kindhearted man. He also witnesses and influences many historical events in the US of the 20th century. Laal Singh Chaddha is the adaptation of the American film. Aamir Khan plays the titular character in the film. The film will mark the debut of Tollywood star Naga Chaitanya. Kareena Kapoor plays the leading lady and Mona Singh appears in a crucial role. The film is directed by Advait Chandran.
It is said that the idea of the conception of Laal Singh Chaddha happened during the premiere of another Aamir Khan production, Jaane Tu Ya...Jaane Na, which marked the debut of Aamir Khan's nephew Imran Khan opposite Genelia D'Souza. Atul Kulkarni is said to have spent over a decade working on the script of the film and Aamir Khan spent another decade to buy the remake rights of the film. The film has been shot in over 100 locations and the shoot was constantly interrupted, courtesy the pandemic. The film is now finally gearing up to hit screens on August 11.
Music for the film is by Pritam and Tanuj Tiku. Cinematography is by Satyajit Pande and editing is by Hemanti Sarkar. The film is produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Jyoti Deshpande, Ajit Andhare and Radhika Chaudhari. The production companies include Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios.
