Netflix recently officially unveiled the premiere date for its latest social experiment reality show, The Trust: A Game of Greed. Hosted by the charismatic Brooke Baldwin – the former anchor of a renowned news channel who departed from the news broadcaster in 2021 – the unscripted eight-part series is set to debut on the streaming platform on January 10, 2024.
What is special about the series?
In the words of Netflix, the show is about eleven strangers who are given a quarter of a million dollars to split evenly. “Will they take their fair share? Or will the allure of more money cause them to vote each other out to keep more for themselves? It’s the ultimate test of human nature, as greed and mistrust threaten to destroy even the strongest of relationships. In this game, everyone starts as winners, and they can all leave as winners – if they choose to share,” read the Netflix statement.
The Trust and The Traiters connect
The Trust: A Game of Greed introduces a high-concept reality format, pitting players against each other in a web of deceit and alliances. This show is viewed as a direct response to the success of The Traitors, which premiered earlier this year on the Peacock streaming service. For those unfamiliar with this global phenomenon, The Traitors is a murder mystery reality series where faithful and traitors engage in a game of friendship or betrayal. Adding to the excitement, the new season of The Traitors is set to be released just two days after The Trust, on January 12, providing fans with a double dose of double-bluffing reality shows.
What, when and how to watch the series
The Trust will premiere on Netflix on January 10, with episodes being released in three instalments.
