At the end of Season 1, Geralt's fellow Witchers had been slain by the former Princess of Cintra, Ciri, and Yennefer had betrayed him by sacrificing herself to save him so that Ciri might finally rid herself of the ghost of Voleth Meir.

As the monarchs, mages, and beasts of the continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it, according to the official synopsis of the third season.

To learn more about Ciri's latent magical abilities, Yennefer takes her to the safe haven of Aretuza, but instead they find themselves in the middle of a warzone rife with political corruption, dark magic, and betrayal. They have to fight back and risk losing each other for good if they don't.

Each season will have its own release date on Netflix: June 29, 2023, for the first volume, and July 27, 2023, for the second.

The show's producers have lately spoken publicly about their plans for the future of The Witcher, indicating that a fifth season is in the works. Sophie Holland, casting director, recently told Deadline that they are just about to start filming on season four with Liam Hemsworth, and there will be a short gap before they go straight into season five.

Fans of Liam Hemsworth will have to wait until the show's fourth and fifth seasons air to see how he does in his new role as the show's protagonist.
