After its electrifying second season, it seems the makers of The Witcher are wasting no time in getting started on its third. The series has reportedly started production on its third season recently.
According to a report in Redanian Intelligence, the makers have arrived in North Slovenia to kick start production on the show’s latest season. The portal also reported that locals had spotted Henry Cavill and Freya Allan at the location. It mentions that season three will be filmed across three main European locations - Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.
Fans also speculated that Cavill is indeed at the location on The Witcher sets, from his recent social media posts. On his official Instagram handle, the actor had talked about ‘reuniting’ with his friend Hector, Geralt’s horse. The actor also talked about meeting with Laszlo Juhasz, the stunt performer on the series.
Another video posted by the actor featured breathtaking countryside mountains, and in the clip, the actor mentions that he is ‘on location’.
In addition to Cavill and Allan, the series, created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, also stars Anya Chalotra. The series is based on the popular book series of the same name, written by Polish writer, Andrzej Sapkowski. The books have also spawned a popular video game series.
The first two seasons of The Witcher are available for streaming on Netflix. An animated series titled, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, which focuses on Geralt’s mentor, was also released on Netflix. A prequel series based on the show, titled The Witcher: Blood Origin, will also make its way onto Netflix soon. The latter stars Michelle Yeoh, Sophia Brown and Laurence O'Fuarain in lead roles.
