This epic sci-fi starring Tenet, Inception actors is a better watch than Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon Part 1 and it’s out on OTT now

Snyder's intergalactic saga Rebel Moon has not received a positive reception, with most claiming it suitable for ardent Snyder cultists. But this scifi epic does the genre justice and does it better.

The Creator was released on Disney+Hotstar on December 20, 2023. The film stars the likes of Tenet star John David Washington, Killers of the Flower Moon actor Sturgill Simpson, Inception’s beloved character Ken Watanabe, and Eternals star Gemma Chan in prominent roles.

The Creator is set in 2070, when artificial intelligence has evolved enough to take autonomous, antagonistic decisions and detonated nuclear bombs without warning, effectively starting a bloody, long war against humanity.

Protagonist Joshua (John David Washington) is hired by the remaining government to track down the powerful AI known as The Creator, who is responsible for architecting a mysterious weapon that can end the war as well as humankind.

Grieving his wife Maya’s (Gemma Chan) disappearance, he sets out with a team on a daring mission to find and kill The Creator and destroy his weapon. But what does one do when the weapon he is ordered to finish off is an AI resembling and behaving like a child.

The film’s multiple trailers offer a firsthand account of the lush visuals, flawless action scenes, and poignant moments that are scattered generously throughout the story. The official trailer also reveals the intense bond that Joshua and the AI child form, from talking about who goes to heaven to helping and shouldering one another whenever required.

However, the rift between AI and humanity in the West is such that Joshua will have to determine his loyalties fast, else he may risk losing the only other connection he has had in his life since the War.
