Nivin Pauly starrer Thuramukham is one of the most anticipated Malayalam movies of the year. Its star cast and multiple delays have made fans even more eager for the period action drama. The movie’s makers have now released its official trailer. 

The trailer immediately draws the viewer’s attention with a confrontation between Joju George and Sudev Nair. While one cannot make out the exact details of the movie, some of the story unfolds in front of our eyes. The story revolves around the port lands of Mattanchery, Kochi, and will see Nivin Pauly join the dark side, as he and his men try and fight off the revolution. 

The trailer also gives a more detailed look at the characters of a number of actors such as Indrajith and Nimisha Sajayan. The setting and characters all look finely tuned as Rajeev Ravi’s movie looks ready to impress cinema fans around the country.

Nivin Pauly also looks primed and ready with his rugged looks and acting to complement it. From what the trailer hints, this could be another role that could be added to the actor’s list of characters that stand out such as Akbar from Moothon. 

While Rajeev Ravi directs this period action drama, written by Gopan Chidambaran, the movie also stars Indrajith Sukumaran, Nimisha Sajayan, Joju George, Arjun Ashokan, Sudev Nair, Manikandan R. Achari, Senthil Krishna, Poornima Indrajith and Darshana Rajendran in prominent roles. 

Set in the 1940s and 50s, the movie revolves around the system of ‘Chaappa’ that had labourers fight among themselves to acquire a coin that provided them the right to work.

After multiple delays, the movie is now slated to hit theatres around the country on June 3. Thuramukham premiered at the 2022 International Film Festival Rotterdam.
