The action adventure movie Uncharted, which is based on the popular video game has been in the works for a long time. Tom Holland, who stars in the movie, has now called the process of finding the director for the movie as a stressful process.

In an interview with Total Film, Holland said, “Some of [the directors] came in, and had ideas that we didn’t like, that just didn’t fit the characters, and we had to move on to other people. We took inspiration from everyone.”

He added that some wanted very different variations of Drake and Sully, two characters from the movie, and that some people wanted to make the game as it is while others wanted to make very different versions from the movie.

He ended by calling it a very interesting process, one that he would not want to do again and that it was stressful finding a director.

Uncharted has been in the works at Sony since 2008, following the release and success of the first PS3 game. David O. Russell, Seth Gordon and Dan Trachtenberg were all attached to the movie at one point, until Ruben Fleischer became the director.

Ruben Fleischer made his feature film debut with the successful zombie comedy Zombieland in 2009. He has also helmed movies such as 30 Minutes or Less, Zombieland: Double Tap and Venom.

Uncharted will act as a semi prequel to the game, and will feature a young Sully played by Holland, who is drawn into the world of relics and adventures with his mentor Sully, played by Mark Wahlberg.

Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle and Antonio Banderas also feature in the movie, that is set to release in the United States on February 18, 2022.
