The upcoming film Orchestra Mysuru is a unique collaboration that marks music composer Raghu Dixit's debut as a producer. Dixit will be co-producing with Ashwin Vijayakumar and also scoring the music for the film centered on the orchestra culture that is still very popular and thriving in the cultural city of Mysuru and many other smaller towns of Karnataka.
In an earlier interview, Raghu Dixit shared that director Suni Mysuru approached him with the idea of a young boy who dreams of being part of a traditional orchestra. Having grown up in Mysuru himself and loved the orchestra culture of the '90s, the film's ethos resonated strongly with the music composer who came on board soon after as one of the two producers. The making of the film, however, was far from being rosy or simple, and instead, the team had to endure shooting delays, budget constraints, etc., thus pushing to employ innovative methods such as shooting on location during cultural programmes in Mysuru. The audience will get to see the first trailer of Orchestra, Mysuru on June 21.
"Mysuru’s dream, a dream that Mysuru’s theatre artists dreamt as one…. And we are coming forth again - to entertain you, to fill courage into the lost hearts, to fill life into everyone’s dreams, to bring smiles on everyone’s face through their tears! Presenting the teaser of #OrchestraMysuru!" wrote Raghu Dixit in his post.
The film stars Poornachandra Mysore, Rajalakshmi, Dileep Raj, Mahesh Kumar, Ravi Hunsur, and many others. Poornachandra has also written the film's screenplay along with Joseph K. Raja and Mahadeva Prasad with Sunil Mysuru and singer Naveen Sajju getting the story credits. Joseph K. Raja has also handled cinematography (along with Rahul Roy) and editing with Baadal Nanjundaswamy serving as the art director.
Orchestra Mysuru first came to the public attention through the film's video song Maadappa which was released more than a year ago. Daali Dhananjaya, who has written the lyrics of the song to Raghu Dixit's tune, features in the video along with Dixit, Naveen Sajju, Baadal Nanjundswamy, and Sukhdev Tejaswi. Many lauded the makers of the song for choosing authenticity over commercialism as the song comes as a true representation of the Kannada folklore and tradition.
