Tu bahut pachtayega: Here's why Rishi Kapoor warned Ranbir Kapoor about Shamshera director Karan Malhotra

Ranbir Kapoor fans have been patiently awaiting Shamshera’s arrival for quite a while now. The film marks Ranbir’s first big screen outing after more than three years. Karan Malhotra has directed the upcoming film. Ranbir recently opened up about a ‘warning’ his father, the late Rishi Kapoor, had given him about the director.

Rishi had worked with Karan in the 2012 film Agneepath, which marked the latter’s directorial debut. In conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Ranbir revealed that Rishi had called Karan a ‘hard taskmaster’. Ranbir recounted how Rishi had told the former “Tu bahut pachtayega” and told him to ‘be ready’ when Karan asked him to do numerous takes. Agneepath, which can be streamed on Netflix, also starred Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra as well.

Ranbir agreed that working on Shamshera was indeed a daunting task and called it the most physically draining film he had ever done. The actor revealed how they shot the film in Mumbai during the peak of summer, wearing woolen clothes no less. The actor also had to keep on a thick beard and spoke of how he used to be covered in dust most of the time. He said performing action sequences in those conditions was a very hard task indeed. “Working on this film was a nightmare”, said Ranbir. But in the end all their hard work had paid off, as the actor himself said that it all seemed worth it in the end when they saw how the film turned out.

Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt also star in Shamshera. Sanjay had previously collaborated with Karan on Agneepath as well, playing the antagonist in both films. The upcoming film is bankrolled by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films.

Shamshera will be released on July 22, in Hindi,Telugu and Tamil.
