The film Tum Bin is one of the popular romantic dramas that is still etched in the minds of the fans. It made the actors in the film, Sandali Shah, Priyanshu Chatterjee and Himanshu Malik, overnight sensations. However, the actors have then rarely been seen in Bollywood films. While Priyanshu has worked on several films across languages, Sandali Shah and Himanshu now rarely appear on silver screens.

Recently, Himanshu who has now turned a director, revealed a dark side of the Bollywood industry that made him realise how the industry works. The actor said in an interview with Navbharat Times that he was asked to have an affair to get publicity. He said, "I got a glimpse of how the industry is soon after Tum Bin and it disturbed me a lot. That was a time when magazines used to be huge. So I got a call from one huge magazine publication, asking me to have an affair. 'If you have an affair with an upcoming actress, it makes for a good story', I was told."

He further said that he was shocked to learn that this is how the film industry works. When he expressed his shock, he said, he was nobody becomes a star without the publicity. The publication even offered to provide a candidate or two, as famous as he is and he had to get in a room with her in Goa. "You just go there and we will expose," he said he was told.
