Vaadivaasal, the period action film helmed by Vetrimaaran, was announced a couple of years ago. Suriya was roped in to play the lead role in the highly anticipated project. The National Award-winning actor even underwent Jallikattu training for the film, which is expected to feature him in a double role. However, the rumourmills now suggest that actor-comedian Soori might replace Suriya in Vaadivaasal.
Soori to replace Suriya in Vetrimaaran’s Vaadivaasal
For the uninitiated, Vaadivaasal was originally supposed to go on floors by mid-2021. Suriya, the leading man of the Vetrimaaran directorial. underwent a major physical transformation for the film and even sported a semi-long hairdo for one of the roles. A special teaser of the film was released, in which the National Award winner is seen training with the real bulls. However, rumours suggest that the celebrated actor is no longer a part of the highly anticipated project.
If the recent updates are to be believed, Suriya is no longer a part of Vaadivaasal. The multiple delays of the project and other work commitments of both the leading man and director, Vetrimaaran, have reportedly resulted in a major change in the film’s star cast. The grapevine suggests that director Vetrimaaran is now planning to replace Suriya with another actor. Some unconfirmed reports suggest that Viduthalai actor Soori is being considered for the lead role in Vaadivaasal. A major update on the much-awaited project is expected to be out in a few weeks.

Is Suriya’s busy schedule the reason for his exit?
As per the reports, creative differences are not the reason behind the big change in the Vaadivaasal star cast. Suriya has been busy in his acting career with the making of his ambitious project, Kanguva, which is touted to be a period fantasy film. The National Award-winner will soon kickstart the shoot for his 43rd outing, which has been tentatively titled Suriya 43, and helmed by Sudha Kongara.
He is also expected to join hands with Bollywood filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for the upcoming epic drama, Karna. The popular star is reportedly unable to allot dates for Vetrimaaran’s film, as the director has not developed a solid plan for the film’s shooting schedule so far. However, both Suriya and the renowned filmmaker have not reacted to the rumours yet.
