Actor Suriya’s film with director Vetrimaaran, Vaadivaasal, has been in the making for a while now. The film was announced some years back, with Suriya also going for practise to learn the jallikattu sport for the film. However, it looks like fans have to wait a little longer, given Vetrimaaran has openly stated that the film will take time to take off. And here is why.
Vaadivaasal is based on the traditional Tamil Nadu sport of bull taming called Jalllikattu. The film, headlined by Suriya, marks the actor’s first collaboration with Vetrimaaran and was supposed to be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu.
But it looks like the project has been once again postponed, as Vetrimaaran has already moved on to his next project with Simbu. "Vaadivaasal, as always got delayed in writing, and there are some technical aspects, and safety of artistes and animals, which has caused some delay,” Vetrimaaran said in a video uploaded on his production house Grass Root Film Company.
This confirms that Vaadivaasal will be a delayed project and comes as a disappointment for fans who have been waiting for the film. With Vetrimaaran now doing another film with Simbu for the same producer, and also signed up another film with another banner, Vaadivaasal has been put in the backburner. Suriya too has moved on to do his other film with Telugu director Venky Atluri.
The director also confirmed that his film with Simbu is not Vada Chennai sequel, but will be set in the same world. There were speculations that Dhanush had demanded money to issue NOC, given he is the producer of Vada Chennai, Vetrimaaran clarified that no such thing happened.
Vetrimaaran’s film with Simbu will take place in similar timeline of Vada Chennai, with an announcement video to be released soon.
