The release of director Mahivarman CS's Vaaitha has been pushed. The film, which was supposed to release on May 6, has been postponed due to the non-availability of screens. The film features Nassar, Mu Ramaswamy, Pugal Mahendran and Powlen Jessica in the lead. The rest of the star cast includes Regin Rose, Thirunavukkarasu and Muthu Azhagarsamy. The story revolves around a poor man, who is discrimininated on the grounds of his caste and gets dragged to the court. The film won critcial acclaim and a series of awards at the festival circuit.

The week has a host of films lined up for release - Saani Kaayidham, Visithran, Koogle Kuttappa, Ayngaran, Akka Kuruvi and Thunigaram.

Saani Kaayidham is directed by Arun Matheswaran, and has Keerthy Suresh and Selvaraghavan in the lead. The film is releasing on May 6 on Amazon Prime Video. In the meantime, GV Prakash's Ayngaran, which was also lined up for release today, is written and directed by Eetti fame Ravi Arasu. The film has Mahima Nambiar playing the leading lady. GV Prakash is said to play a common man who questions the problems pertaining in the society. 

Visthran, on the other hand, is the remake of the Malayalam thriller Joseph that had Joju George in the lead. The film is directed by M Padmakumar, who had directed the original and the star cast includes Poorna, Madhu Shalini, Bhagavathi Perumal, Ilavarasu, George Maryan, G Marimuthu and Ani Murali.

Akka Kuruvi, directed by Saamy, is the Tamil remake of the Iranian family drama, Children of Heaven, directed by Majid Majidi. The original film, Children of Heaven was nominated for the Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film in 1998. Koogle Kuttappa is the remake of the 2019 Malayalam film Android Kunjappan Version 5.25 written and directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval. The Tamil version is directed by debutants Sabari–Saravanan, former assistants to director KS Ravikumar.
