Just when you thought the list of Sankranthi releases in Telugu cinema was running quite long after the postponement of RRR, there's a new addition to the box office race. Actor Ajith's much anticipated action entertainer Valimai will be simultaneously releasing in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi on January 13. Directed by H Vinoth, who had previously helmed Nerkonda Paarvai (the Tamil remake of Pink) with Ajith, is reuniting with the star for a proper masala outing this time.

Ajith is cast in the role of a cop named Arjun in the film, who's clearly against the idea of killing criminals in an encounter. He witnesses a prisoner committing suicide and tries to track the many reasons that might have forced him to take the drastic move. Just when he think he's come closer to deciphering all the clues in the case, his professional reputation goes for a toss owing to his nemesis. He also loses the trust of his loved ones.

How does Arjun reclaim everything he has lost? He is on a no-compromise mission to seek vengeance. Kartikeya Gummakonda plays the antagonist in the film that also features Huma Qureshi, Bani, Sumithra, Achyunth Kumar, Yogi Babu, Raj Ayyappa and Pugazh in crucial roles. Composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, also part of Nerkonda Paarvai, is reuniting with H Vinoth again for the actioner.

Cinematographer Nirav Shah, art director K Kadhir and editor Vijay Velukutty form the film's technical crew. Boney Kapoor has produced the project. The trailers of Telugu and Hindi versions of Valimai are expected to release tomorrow. The other Sankranti releases in Telugu include Bangarraju, Radhe Shyam, Hero, 7 Days 6 Nights, DJ Tillu, Atithi Devo Bhava, 1945 and Shekar.
