Vanangaan Twitter reactions: Fans excited about Suriya-Bala comeback

The first-look poster from Suriya's next with director Bala was released today on the occasion of the director's birthday. The film, which was being referred to as Suriya 41 until now, has been titled Vanangaan in Tamil. The Telugu version of the film has been titled Achaludu. Suriya and Bala are coming together for a film after a long hiatus. 

Though makers have kept the plot under wraps, sources say that Suriya will be seen playing a fisherman in the film. The film was shot in a coastal hamlet in Kanyakumari and the actor is expected to speaking in the southern slang for the film. Krithi Shetty and Mamitha Baiju have been roped in as the leading ladies and the film will mark their debut in Tamil. The rest of the star cast is yet to be revealed.

In the first look, the actor is seen sporting a bearded look with a cut in the beard. Fans of the actor have called the look a cross between Suriya's look in Nandha and Pithamagan. There is also a buzz that the film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name penned by writer Jeyamohan.

It was not long ago that there were rumours the project got dropped due to difference of opinion between Suriya and Bala. However, Suriya shared a a picture with the Nandha and Pithamagan actor and quashed the rumours about the rift. Sharing the first look, Suriya wrote that he was excited to be teaming up with the director again and also wished him a happy birthday. The film has music by GV Prakash. Editing is handled by Sathish Surya. Vanangaan is bankrolled by Suriya and Jyotika under their 2D Entertainment production banner. Suriya was last seen in a special appearance in Kamal Haasan's Vikram. His character Rolex went on to become a hit among the audience, thought Suriya appeared only for a few minutes in the film.
