Varun Dhawan has spoken about the copyright infringement case on JugJugg Jeeyo. The actor said that while such things happen, they should not. For the same, he said that production houses like Dharma and Viacom Pictures should ‘do the needful’ so these things ‘don’t happen in the future for no reason.’
The actor was talking to Pinkvilla after the release of his film. He ensured that if Dharma Productions actually lifted the script and turned it into JugJugg Jeeyo then the artists wouldn’t support that.
Varun cited the example of Anil Kapoor and said that he would never do that. In fact, Varun said that he and Anil would both side with the writer, if that person is right.
He then shared that Raj Mehta, who has helmed the film, ensured the cast and crew that the script of JugJugg Jeeyo is completely different. Varun then said that filing for copyright has ‘become a very big trend with Hindi films nowadays.’
Stating that it damages the film, Varun shared, “I hope like Dharma as a production or Viacom as a studio, they do the needful to make sure that these things don’t happen in the future for no reason.”
JugJugg Jeeyo released in theatres on June 24. The movie stars Kiara Advani and Neetu Kapoor as the female leads. Maniesh Paul and Prajajkta Koli play pivotal roles in the film too.
Before JugJugg Jeeyo, Raj made headlines for his movie Good Newwz, featuring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. The movie became a hit and thus, expectations were riding high on JugJugg Jeeyo too.
Luckily, the film has been working well at the Box Office. The movie has earned Rs. 36.93 crores in three days already. Monday holds crucial for this film since it would decide where the movie would head towards the week.
