Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu: Silambarasan-Siddhi Idnani-starrer wraps filming

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu has wrapped up its shoot today. The upcoming film’s director Gautham Vasudev Menon announced the news today through his official social media handles, also unveiling a brand new poster for the film.

The new poster features the film’s lead Silambarasan,looking intense against a dusky background and brandishing a gun. In the post’s caption, Menon announced that filming was complete and the project has entered the post production stage now. The director also likened the experience to ‘going back to school’ and thanked the film’s cast and crew for their work on the project.

In addition to Silambarasan, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu stars Siddhi Idnani as the female lead, and marks the actress’ Tamil film debut. The film also features Neeraj Madhav, Radhika Sarath Kumar, Siddique and Aangelina Abraham in pivotal roles. Madhav will also be making his Kollywood debut with the film.

A R Rahman has composed the film’s music. The musician had previously collaborated with Menon and Silambarasan before, on the films Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa(2010) and Acham Enbathu Madamaiyada(2016). The upcoming film, which is expected to be released around June or July, is bankrolled by Ishari K. Ganesh. B Jeyamohan has written the film’s script, which has cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni. The film has been edited by Anthony. The film’s story is reportedly inspired by a novel written by Agni Kunjondru Kanden.

Meanwhile Silambarasan is currently awaiting the release of his films such as Pathu Thala and Maha. The star, who was last seen in the Venkat Prabhu directed film Maanaadu, currently serves as the host of the reality show Bigg Boss Ultimate, which can be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. The actor took on the mantle of host from Kamal Haasan, who left the show to work on his upcoming film Vikram.
