Sandeep Shyam's Vezham is gearing up to release in theatres on June 24. The film has received U/A certificate from the Censor Board. The first look of the film, starring Ashokselvan in the lead, and Janani and Ishwarya Menon as the leading ladies, was released by Arya and Harish Kalyan earlier this month. The shooting of the project was completed a while ago.
Janani is said to be playing a writer in the film, while Iswarya is essaying the role of an NRI. Ashokselvan's character has been kept as a suspense-filled one. The story takes place in two time periods, and the actor sports dual looks for the movie. The rest of the star cast includes Sangili Murugan, Kitty, PL Thenappan and Shyam Sundar.
Cinematography is by Shakthi Arvind and editing by AK Prasath. Music is composed by debutant Jhanu Chanthar. Dinesh Subbarayan has helmed the action scenes and Sugumar is in charge of art direction. The film is bankrolled by Keseven under K4 Kreations. Vezham is expected to drop on a leading OTT platform after its theatrical release. In the meantime, the team had a get-together.
Ashok Selvan's last release was Hostel, remake of the 2015 Malayalam film Adi Kapyare Kootamani. The film tanked at the box office and received negative reviews from the critics. While the Tamil version was directed by Sumanth Radhakrishnan, the Malayalam version was written and directed by John Verghese. Priya Bhavani Shankar played the leading lady in the film that also starred Sathish. The plot revolved around a young woman who gets stuck in a boy's hostel.
His performance in Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal (streaming on aha Tamil) earned him praise, while Manmatha Leelai (streaming on aha Tamil) had him carrying the entire film on his shoulders. He will next be seen in Nitham Oru Vaanam. He was seen playing a cameo in Tollywood movie Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam as well.
