In the past two years, Shine Tom Chacko has established himself as a force to reckon with in the Malayalam film industry. So, his latest movie Vichithram, which comes after the superhit Thallumaala, will also serve as a litmus test.
The film, helmed by debutant director Achu Vijayan, is a mystery thriller with crime elements. The team had unveiled the trailer of the movie recently and just like its title, it has left the viewers puzzled about what to expect from the film, which also stars Balu Varghese, Lal, Kani Kusruti, Jolly Chirayath and Ketaki Narayan.
While this is Achu’s debut directorial, he has previously worked in several movies such as Mammootty and Huma Qureshi’s White and Bharath’s Simba as an editor. Vichithram, which completed its shoot earlier this year, was filmed mainly in Thrissur, Munnar and Kochi.
The film, which is set in Thrissur, revolves around a family consisting of a mother, essayed by Jolly, and her five children. Shine and Balu play brothers in the movie, which is currently set to hit theatres on October 14. A crime that has happened in the past begins to have huge ramifications on the family.
The trailer of the movie, scripted by Nikhil Ravindran, hints a dysfunctional family and also reveals glimpses of their love for football. Apart from the lead actors, Sinoj Varghese, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, James Eliya and Bibin Perumbilli are also part of the movie, which has Street Academic and Jubair Muhammed handling its music department.
Vichithram is co-produced by Dr Ajith Joy and Achu, and will go head-to-head with Soubin Shahir’s horror comedy Romancham, which is also set to release on October 14 in theatres. Anoop Menon’s political thriller Varaal, which has Prakash Raj and Sunny Wayne, is another big film hitting theatres n Kerala on October 14.
