Vidaamuyarchi box office collection Day 1: Ajith Kumar-Trisha's film makes a solid start but did it beat Thunivu?

Vidaamuyarchi box office collection Day 1: Ajith Kumar marked his return to the big screen after two years with the Magizh Thirumeni directorial, Vidaamuyarchi. The action thriller, which also stars Trisha, opened to mostly positive reviews and has also made a solid start at the box office with Rs 22 crore earned in India net gross, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Let's check out the BO collections of Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi on its opening day and whether it has managed to beat his previous release of Thunivu from 2023. 

Vidaamuyarchi box office collection details

Vidaamuyarchi, starring Ajith Kumar and Trisha, was released in theatres on February 6, 2025, much to the delight of Thala fans. Magizh Thirumeni’s action thriller has raked in Rs 22 crore in the India net collections, as per Sacnilk. The overall Tamil Occupancy on Thursday was at 61.23 per cent, with Pondicherry recording the highest with 92.50 per cent followed by Chennai at 89.00 per cent.

Vidaamuyarchi Vs Thunivu box office collection details

Thunivu, which is Ajith Kumar’s previous release, made Rs 24.40 crore in Indian net collection on its opening day on January 11, 2023. The worldwide collection was Rs 39.60 crore, as per the figures on the Sacnilk website. 

It needs to be pointed out that only the India collection of Vidaamuyarchi is out now, and we need to wait for the worldwide collection to confirm if it has defeated Thunivu's collection of Rs 39.60 crore on day 1. But for the India net collection, Thunivu has the upper end with Rs 24.40 crore compared to Vidaamuyarchi’s Rs 22 crore day 1 collection. 

But the solid start at the box office is good news for Vidaamuyarchi as it heads to its first weekend at the ticket window. There are no other star Tamil releases up next. The Telugu film Thandel, starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, could pose a challenge for Vidaamuyarchi if it makes an impressive start at the Tamil Nadu box office. Thandel released in theatres on February 7, 2025.

Thunivu, directed by H Vinoth, starred Ajith Kumar, Manju Warrier, and Samuthirakani.
