Kamal Haasan’s Vikram is one of the biggest Tamil releases of the year, and the action thriller has received great reception following its release. The movie has now had a great first weekend at the box office, already going past the Rs. 150 crore milestone in just three days.

According to entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai, the movie has grossed over ₹150 crore at the worldwide box-office in its opening weekend. Vikram has also crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark at the domestic box office according to Pillai, who has termed the movie the “Biggest post pandemic hit from Kollywood!”

The movie has also done impressive business in the state of Kerala, where the actor has a solid fanbase. Having opened at Rs. 5.02 crore on Friday and collecting Rs. 5.05 crore on Saturday, the movie minted Rs. 5.65 crore on Sunday. This takes the movie’s first weekend collection in Kerala to a whopping Rs. 15. 72 crore.

Reports suggest that Vikram is the biggest Tamil movie to release in Kerala post-pandemic, and that the movie could keep setting new records in the state this week.

Pillai had already reported that Vikram was at number 7 at the United States of America box office, having already minted $1.5 million on its first weekend.

Written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the action entertainer stars Kamal Haasan as a former secret agent living an incognito life. The movie also stars Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, Chemban Vinod Jose, Gayathrie Shankar, Ramesh Thilak, and Jaffer Sadiq among others.

“Lokesh delivers what he has promised to fans of Kamal Haasan and ardent action movie lovers. But the convoluted screenplay, high number of characters and limited wow moments restrict the overall experience.'' read the movie’s review on OTTplay.

Backed by Kamal’s Raaj Kamal Films International and with music by Anirudh Ravichander, the movie is now available in theatres near you.
