The promotional tour of Ponniyin Selvan 2 is almost over and the team is returning to Tamil Nadu tomorrow. With the movie hitting the screens on April 28, press meets at Trichy and Chennai are pending. With the advance booking already open in full swing, fans are now looking forward to D-Day.

At the press meet which happened at Mumbai today, Vikram spoke in length about why the movie is special to him and other actors in it. All praise on director Mani Ratnam, he referred to the maverick filmmaker as his guru and teacher.

He revealed that they had an "all work and no play" experience during the shooting of the movie. However, the joy of living a dream made them excited and kept them going. Chiyaan said that every character in Ponniyin Selvan has separate fan clubs and stressed on the popularity of the novel penned by Kalki.

"Making it into a movie was a dream which many nurtured for years. We have made a dream of 70 years into reality. All actors in Ponniyin Selvan have had many blockbusters in their respective careers. But being part of this franchise has been something special for all of us," he said.

Vikram's Aditha Karikalan had limited screen space in Ponniyin Selvan 1, though the character was quite impactful. His fans are eager to know about his screen space in Ponniyin Selvan 2. His scenes with Karthi, Ravi, Trisha and Aishwarya Rai are expected to be the highlights this time around.

The actor will have two more releases this year, if everything goes well. Pa Ranjith's Thangalaan and Gautham Menon's Dhruva Natchathiram are other projects that are being planned to hit the screens in 2023.
