Vikram Vedha’s Hindi remake promises to be a thrilling story of an epic cat and mouse tale between gangster and cop. The upcoming film will see filmmaker duo Pushkar–Gayatri, who helmed the original Tamil film, return to the director’s chair yet again. In a recent interview, Gayatri opened up about why they decided to go with Hrithik Roshan for the role of Vedha.
In conversation with Mid-Day, the director revealed that after the 2017 film released, Roshan was one of the first actors to call and congratulate them on the movie. Calling Roshan a ‘talented’ actor, Gayatri said that working with him had been ‘incredible’ and that Roshan always chose to look at the big picture to try and make the project better.
The filmmaker talked about how Roshan never displayed any ego even when they did not disagree. And whenever the actor needed clarification on something, the film’s story always took priority over his stardom and role. “He is extremely down to earth,” added Gayatri.
Gayatri also talked about how they had created sets resembling Lucknow in Abu Dhabi to shoot for the film, and spoke of directing the venture with her husband, Pushkar. Talking about how the duo had grown up together, she said they had a harmonious working relationship with no drama. The fact that they also made similar choices also made their professional relationship better, she revealed.
The upcoming film also stars Saif Ali Khan, who essays the role of Vikram, a police officer who is on the tail of Vedha. The film is produced by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series Films, and Reliance Entertainment in conjunction with Friday Filmworks and YNOT Studios Production.
