Vilayath Buddha release: Prithviraj Sukumaran film to hit theatres before Kalamkaval in November 2025

Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s first solo release of the year, Vilayath Buddha, will be hitting theatres in November 2025. Helmed by Jayan Nambiar, the film would release in theatres on November 21, 2025, it has been confirmed by the makers.Prithviraj’s action-packed film will hit theatres a week before Mammootty’s much-anticipated Kalamkaval.

Vilayath Buddha to release on November 21

Prithviraj Sukumaran had earlier this week announced that his upcoming film Vilayath Buddha will be coming soon, though no official date was given. Prithviraj has confirmed that his film will hit theatres on November 21, six days before Mammotty’s Kalamkaval arrives in theatres on November 27. The Empuraan actor-director also released a new poster of the upcoming film.

Vilayath Buddha is an action-packed film, helmed by Jayan Nambiar based on GR Indugopan’s novel of the same name. Indugopan has also co-written the screenplay with Rajesh Pinnadan.

Shammi Thilakan plays the other key role of Bhaskaran Master in the film which will track his power conflict with Double Mohanan, who was once his protege. Priyamvada Krishnan will play his love interest in the movie, which has music by Lokah composer Jakes Bejoy. Cinematographer Arvind Kashyap of Kantara fame is the other prominent crew on board Vilayath Buddha.

Prithivraj was last seen in L2 Empuraan, along with Mohanlal, earlier in 2025. The actor had also directed the film, which is the sequel to his hit film Lucifer from 2019.

Kalamkaval release

On the other hand, Mammootty had confirmed Kalamkaval’s release to be November 27. Malayalam actor Vinayakan will be seen in the other lead role in the film, helmed by Jithin K Jose. The other Malayalam movies releasing in November are Innocent and Roshan Mathew’s Ithiri Neram with Zarin Shihab.

Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan also has a big release coming up, Kaantha, on November 14. But the film is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual about a former superstar.
