Vinay Rajkumar has a very clear vision about what his filmography should look like – filled with a bunch of films that not only showcase him as an artiste, but are also experimental in terms of story-telling and production values. The kind of films he would enjoy as a member of the audience and ones that make him proud to be a part of. In fact, in an earlier conversation with OTTplay, Vinay had explained that his approach has not been about chasing stardom. “I have never seen myself wanting to be a star, but if one of my movies does well, I’d be happy. My approach is not to be a star; it is to be an actor. And if I am meant to be a star, I believe it will happen in its own due course of time. Also, you need to have a certain personality to be able to play the lead in a massy commercial entertainer. I am not sure if I have that or if I even want that,” he had said.

One of Vinay’s films that he was quite excited about doing was the rural subject Graamaayana, directed by Devanaru Chandru. Unfortunately, for the actor, the film was stalled after a 25-day schedule and subsequently, the producer passed away of Covid-19. Unwilling to let go of a story that Vinay believes deserves to be told, he’s been trying to get the project back on track for a while, and a few months ago, it was reported that Tagaru maker KP Sreekanth had shown interest in taking up the responsibility.

According to the latest, Sreekanth will join hands with G Manohar of Lahari Films to relaunch the film on June 8, with a muhurtha at a temple in Bengaluru. When we reached out to Vinay, he confirmed the development and added that the team is looking at restarting the film from scratch. Our query about whether the cast and crew would remain the same, however, remained unanswered.
