Vinnod Prabhakar’s debut production, Lankasura, tentatively set for a September 9 theatrical release

A few days ago, Kannada actor Vinnod Prabhakar officially launched the logo of his production house, Tiger Talkies. Vinnod’s good friend, well-wisher and Roberrt co-star Darshan launched the logo before taking off to Poland for a schedule of his next, Kranti.

Tomorrow, Vinnod will address the media for the first time about his debut production under his home banner, Tiger Talkies. Called Lankasura, the film, directed by Pramod Kumar, also stars Loose Mada Yogi and pairs Vinnod with Parvathy Arun, who was last seen in Kannada in Ganesh’s Geetha. It is likely to be released in theatres on September 9, which will put it in a box-office clash with Dhananjaya’s Once Upon a Time in Jamaligudda.

Vinnod, though, is not perturbed by a box-office clash. “Both our films belong to different genres and will cater to different audiences. Lankasura, for instance, is an out-and-out action film with as many as five major stunt sequences. I have a loyal fan following in B& C centres, where people enjoy hardcore commercial cinema, with the right amount of drama and action. Lankasura has all the elements that will appeal to them,” says the actor.

Lankasura is a film that Vinnod has spared no effort in making it visually rich as well. “We have spent a sizeable amount to ensure great production quality. And what is most heartening is that even before the release of the film, as a producer, I am safe. I have sold the dubbing rights, for many north Indian languages and got good returns. The Hindi belt is quite fond of action films from south India. I had to show them the film before finalizing the deals. The response has been quite heartening,” says Vinnod about his film, which also stars veteran actor Devaraj, as well as P Ravishankar, among others.
