Vrusshabha box office collection day 1: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was having a dream box office run in 2025 with three back-to-back hits - Empuraan, Thudarum, and Hridayapoorvam. But all that came crashing down with the release of his latest film, Vrusshabha, which has recorded the lowest opening for a Mohanlal movie, failing to touch even Rs 1 crore.
Vrusshabha marks Mohanlal’s fourth film of the year, which is helmed by Kannada filmmaker Nanda Kishore and marketed as a pan-Indian project. But despite releases in multiple languages, Vrusshabha marked a disastrous opening with just Rs 61 lakh earned in India net collections, and Rs 70 lakh in worldwide collections, as per trade tracker Sacnilk. Vrusshabha, which released on December 25 after twice getting postponed, has been getting negative reviews.

The Malayalam version of Vrusshabha made Rs 0.46 crore, while Telugu made Rs 0.13 crore and Hindi version registering the meagre Rs 0.02 crore collections, as per data on the Sacnilk website.
Vrushabha also stars Samarjit Lankesh in another key role, along with Nayan Sarika, Ragini Dwivedi, Ajay and Neha Saxena.

Mohanlal’s first release of the year was L2 Empuraan in March 2025 which amassed Rs 18.6 crore, emerging to be best opening for a Malayalam film this year. The sequel of the hit film Lucifer, Empuraan made Rs 266.81 crore in worldwide collections. The very next month, the second Mohanlal film of the year Thudarum was released which made Rs 5.24 crore on day 1. The third Mohanlal film of the year was Hridayapoorvam which made Rs 3.25 crore when it released in theatres on August 28 ahead of Onam festival.
Thudarum made a worldwide collection of Rs 235.38 crore, while Hridayapoorvam made Rs 76.26 crore, as per Sacnilk, though makers claimed the Mohanlal-Sathyan Anthikad movie entered the Rs 100 crore club.
