The film, which had music by actor-composer Sadhu Kokila, was about Daasa, an orphan raised by a crooked cop, who goes on to become a gangster. How his life changes when he meets and falls in love with Kiran (Rekha), an enemy’s daughter forms the crux of the story. The film was remade in Telugu as Charminar.
