War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, follows the critically acclaimed Ek Tha Tiger, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3 as the most recent entry in the ever-growing YRF Spy Universe. The film brings together two of the most celebrated actors from Hindi and Telugu cinema for the first time.
YRF detailed the reasoning behind their decision to premiere the teaser on 25 July in a social media post. The banner announced, "In 2025, 2 icons of Indian cinema complete 25 years of their glorious cinematic journey. To celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime moment, YRF marks July 25 as the trailer launch date of 'WAR 2'!! Here’s to the most epic clash of the TITANS!! Mark your calendars." As per reports, the trailer will be released at 10:08 am.
Strategic release ahead of Independence Day weekend
In addition to promoting what is being billed as the year's most anticipated event film, this action is perceived as a tribute to the performers' careers. Also, to give the studio a nice promotional window, the date puts the film in theatres on August 14, the day before Independence Day, with the hope of a profitable long weekend.
In this film, Jr. NTR plays a crucial part, and Hrithik Roshan returns as Kabir, the renegade agent introduced in War (2019). The lead female role is played by Kiara Advani.
