Hollywood stars and power couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez got married on Saturday, July 16, in an intimate setting. Fondly referred to as Bennifer by fans and media, Affleck and Lopez are said to have tied the knot in Las Vegas at a drive-through wedding chapel. As revealed by the Marry Me actress herself, the couple flew down to Vegas, stood in line along with four other couples for their license, and had the simplest-yet-romantic wedding at the Little White Chapel in the casino city.
Jennifer Lopez would divulge all the details in her later On the JLo newsletter. “We did it,” read the heading of the newsletter as she went on to describe the special night for all her eager fans: from a movie-like tunnel of love that the chapel featured to Lopez walking down the aisle to a song playing out of a Bluetooth speaker, the newsletter carried all the little endearing moments from the wedding. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez confirmed their engagement in April earlier this year.
To top things off, Jennifer Lopez revealed that she wore a dress from an old movie for her wedding along with a “jacket from Ben’s closet”. The newsletter also featured many candid photos from the wedding.
“Stick around long enough and maybe you’ll find the best moment of your life in a drive through in Las Vegas at 12.30 in the morning and at the tunnel of love drive through, with your kids and the one you’ll spend forever with. Love is a great thing, maybe the best of things – and worth waiting for,” she wrote in the newsletter.
As one of the most high-profile celebrity relationships in Hollywood, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez first began dating in 2002, getting engaged the same year. The couple would break the engagement two years later following a hugely publicized relationship that even fetched them the portmanteau of Bennifer, reportedly the first ever of its kind. Despite the separation, both Affleck and Lopez are said to have remained in touch and began the second phase of their love life almost twenty years later. The two acted together in the 2003 film Gigli.
