Siddharth Anand has finally broken his silence on Ayan Mukerji directing War 2. The filmmaker had helmed the first installment of the Hrithik Roshan-starrer.
Siddharth Anand delivered one of the biggest blockbuster movies in 2019 with War. The film marks his first professional collaboration with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. When War 2 was announced, the makers revealed that Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji would helm the film's sequel. Months after that announcement, Siddharth broke his silence on Ayan directing War 2, the sequel to his 2019 directorial, War.
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Siddharth Anand reacted to Ayan Mukerji coming on board for director Hrithik Roshan's War 2. "It's like a baby, your son flourishing in somebody else's company," he said. For the uninitiated, Siddharth had planned to direct the sequel. However, some scheduling conflicts led to a change in plan and that's how Ayan was roped in to direct the 2019 film's sequel.
Although he is not directing War, Siddharth Anand continues to share a good bond with Yash Raj Films' head honcho, Aditya Chopra. The filmmaker said that he has the utmost respect for Aditya and said that they share a 'father-son' kind of equation. Anand mentioned that YRF's doors are always open for him and he is also open to collaborating with the production house.
Meanwhile, Siddharth Anand's recently released film Fighter has got a lukewarm response at the box office. Despite a good start at the BO, the Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone-starrer witnessed a sharp decline in its collection. In the same interview, Siddharth mentioned that 90% of Indians haven't flown in planes or been to the airport. Hence, he wonders, "So how do you expect them to know what's happening in the air?"
The total earnings of Fighter after 9 days at theatres is Rs 151 crore. On the other hand, the movie has surpassed the Rs 250 crore mark at the global box office.
Fighter released in theatres on January 25, which is exactly a year after Siddharth's previous film Pathaan.
