The trend of remakes and sequels is something that has been happening for decades now. However, there are a lot of people who don't like the fact that Bollywood is remaking films in other languages, especially in the South Indian film industry. Owing to this discussion, Akshay Kumar has an interesting take on it. During a media group interaction while promoting Prithviraj, the actor asked what the problem was if films or music were being remade or reprised.

Akshay shared, "Someone questioned me in the morning about remakes and why are we remaking them? I asked, 'Why not?' What is the problem? Is there a problem with remaking? Oh My God! My film was remade in Telugu and became a huge hit. Their Rowdy Rathore was remade and worked for all of us. Why does anyone have a problem? Why shouldn’t it happen? People question why we shouldn’t remix songs. There are originals being made and then there are remakes. Why is anyone having a problem with them coexisting? If a good film is being made in the South and we buy its rights and remake it, what is wrong with it?"

The actor also spoke about how everyone has become a critic nowadays. People question our talent. It is not about talent; we all have it; it is about the story connecting with the audience. People on Twitter have become critics and want to have an opinion on everything. Why? I would say don’t get carried away."

Further talking about everyone's critiques on social media, Akshay said, "I have to do what I have to do. Everybody has to learn that technique because social media, otherwise, is going to start ruling you. You have to learn the technique of being honest with yourself; your conscious saying you have done goodwill. Even if a film works or doesn't, you have to stop getting worried about what people are criticizing."
