The series is an action thriller that will be reportedly shot across the globe and premiere on Amazon Prime Video in August 2022, if all goes according to the plan.
Akshay Kumar had thrown fans in a tizzy with the announcement of his digital debut with Amazon Prime Video Series The End two years back. The show was set to premiere this year. However, the project didn’t fall into place and Raghava Lawrence’s Laxmii released on Disney+Hotstar instead.
There is still some hope that Akshay's fans will see him make his digital debut with a bang! Word is that The End hasn’t been shelved and will begin the shoot in January 2022. As per NewsBytes, the series will most likely premiere in August 2022 across Amazon Prime’s global reach.
During a promotional event for Bell Bottom, the actor had confirmed that he would start shooting for The End next year. A report by LetsOTT Global has also revealed the timeline of the show's production. The portal mentions that the shooting will begin in January 2022 and will continue for three months. The much-awaited series will be shot in many locations around the world.
Akshay will step into OTT with what has been marked as his territory in the Hindi cinema - the action genre. In other words, the series will be an action thriller. Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment has bankrolled the project.
Speaking to Variety about the series back in 2019 when the show was announced at an event by Amazon's India service, Akshay had said that he was taken back to his student days. He added that the series will be high on ‘real-life, hair-raising action.’ The actor had ushered in the announcement with a scary stunt.
Khiladi Kumar had also added that the series will be released in three parts, across the time span of three years. Each season would have about six episodes.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar has many projects in the pipeline. There is Ranjit M Tewari’s Cinderella, for which he is currently shooting in London. Media reports state that he will finish the shooting for OMG: Oh My God! 2 in about 15 days and Ram Setu by the end of the year.
The National-Award winning actor also has Bachchan Pandey, Raksha Bandhan and Atrangi Re lined up. He is likely to commence shooting for the Aanand L Rai directorial with Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush soon, now that the COVID-19 situation has improved slightly.
