'Wonderful to see desi representation': Priyanka Chopra all praises for Bridgerton season 2

While Shonda Rhimes' Bridgerton season two is fantastic for a variety of reasons, the show's portrayal of "desi culture" has made it even more meaningful for all Indians, including worldwide icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The former Miss World used her Instagram account to express her gratitude to the show for portraying Indian culture through the Sharma sisters, Edwina and Kate Sharma, played by Charithra Chandran and Simone Ashley, respectively.

With a picture of Chandran and Ashley, Priyanka wrote that it's amazing to see desi representation on mainstream television. When the actor first started, it was such an outlier. PeeCee also wrote that she is a big fan of the show and the Sharma sisters.

Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn's bestselling series of novels and is set in the opulent and competitive realm of Regency London high society in the early 1800s.

The heated courtship between Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, was the subject of the first season of the romantic period drama (Rege-Jean Page).

Season two of Bridgerton follows in the footsteps of Julia Quinn's novels by telling the narrative of Daphne's older brother, Lord Anthony Bridgerton's (Jonathan Bailey's) search for love as he sets out to find a suitable wife.

According to the streaming service's freshly announced weekly Top 10 list, the second season of period drama Bridgerton has become the most-viewed show in a week among Netflix's English TV series.

The second season of the sitcom received 251.74 million hours of viewing during its first full week on the streaming service, from March 28 to April 3. However, according to Variety, Squid Game still retains the overall record for the most-watched Netflix show during a seven-day period, with 571.76 million hours watched.

Bridgerton season 2 and Squid Game have both eclipsed Inventing Anna, which had previously held the record for the most-watched English-language series in a single week with 196 million hours watched. Bridgerton season 1, which came in second place for English-language titles on Netflix last week with 53 million hours viewed, was close behind Bridgerton season 2 in the Top 10. Is It Cake?, a new competition series, came in third place.
