Raayan, which is Dhanush’s 50th outing as an actor and sophomore directorial, is backed by Sun Pictures. Dhanush made his directorial debut in 2017 with Pa Paandi. Starring Rajkiran and Revathi, it was a feel-good movie that received both critical and commercial success.
Raayan is expected to be a gangster drama that is set in North Madras, with Dhanush rumoured to be playing the character of a cook who used to be a gangster. According to earlier reports, Raayan is expected to hit the big screens in April. However, an official confirmation is awaited.
Earlier, rumours were going around that the script for Raayan is borrowed from Selvaraghavan’s shelved project with Dhanush, Ajith and Bharath. However, the filmmaker clarified that the news is not true and that Raayan is the brainchild of Dhanush. It will also mark Selvaraghavan’s first collaboration with Dhanush in the latter’s capacity as an actor.
