Yami Gautam on OMG 2 vs. Gadar 2: Have a picture of the Gadar 2 cutout with the hand pump; will post it, and wish Sunny Deol

Two mainstream commercial films, Gadar 2 and OMG 2, are all set to release on the same day, August 11, 2023. This is another clash coming the way of cinephiles after the epic Barbenheimer: Barbie and Oppenheimer, which hit the big screen on the same day. Interestingly, both are sequels, of which the first instalments were big hits.

During a recent group media interaction, when Yami Gautam, who stars in OMG 2, was asked about the clash, the actor said, "I have a picture of Gadar cutout with the hand pump; I will post it, and I will wish Sunny sir. We are all his fans, and we all love him. We have all watched Gadar: Ek Prem Katha in theatres, and I am hoping that the more, the better for the audience. Gadar 2 has its own audience, and we have our own audience. I hope the audience watches both films."

Comparing the clash with Barbenheimer, Yami further said, "Just like the recent two Hollywood films released on the same day, and they both did really well. They had their own audience. So I hope the same happens here."

In OMG 2, Yami plays the role of a lawyer against Pankaj Tripathi's character. The actor has earlier played the role of a lawyer in the Shahid Kapoor-starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu. On being asked if both the characters are similar, Yami replied, "It is not the same role, I promise you that. Amit has promised me that. Today also, he said, 'Even now, someone is trying to draw parallels with their own film.' I believed him, and I believed him; that's why I made the film. There's so much about her that I learned as an actor. She is a little sassy too, and that's where the character begins, if I may say."

OMG 2 is directed by Amit Rai and features Akshay Kumar in the role of the messenger of God.
