Both the seasons of Rajneeti are better than many of the web series we get to watch in Bangla. Abar Rajneeti is worth a watch.

Abar Rajneeti story:

Abar Rajneeti story: Abar Rajneeti starts nine months after where the first season ends. Rashi Banerjee (Ditipriya Roy) is married to Sounak (Arjun Chakrabarty) and is currently pregnant. Mallika Banerjee (Koneenica Banerjee) is the new candidate of the Rijpur Lok Sabha constituency. The drama starts when Pratim Banerjee (Koushik Ganguly) – elder brother of Rathin Banerjee (also Koushik) – comes back to Rijpur to settle a few things.

Abar Rajneeti review:

It is nothing short of a casting coup as director Sourav Chakrabarty brings Koushik Ganguly, Koneenica Banerjee, Ditipriya Roy, and Arjun Chakrabarty into this political drama. The first season of Rajneeti has grabbed attention for its tight storyline involving multiple interesting characters. The twists and turns in the plot are well-placed and optimally used.

One of the drawbacks of the second season is that no character evolves further from the first season. The conspiring ones keep on conspiring and the gullible ones keep on being naive. It is dotted with loud dialogues and melodrama. For example, when Rashi comes back to Rijpur, her stepmother Mallika follows the same ritual that she followed when she returned from the hospital in the first season. That scene lacks subtlety. and the story is far too convoluted with multiple loose ends and the predictable characters fail to handle them. It is a good idea to watch season one to follow the second season better.

Having said that, Abar Rajneeti is still a binge-worthy web series with fascinating acting, beautiful photography, and a thrill that you don’t want to miss. The story runs super fast and maintains its pace. Kaushik Ganguly is brilliant. Koneenica is more powerful than ever. We know what Mallika does and the actress executes it fiercely. Arjun gets a broader space and he is subtle and stout. However, his character does not get a resolution per se. That will have to wait till the second season, if any.

Aniruddha Gupta is remarkable. He is a trained actor and he proves that. Debojyoti Roy Chowdhury plays a remarkable character, Jimmy. He is the most entertaining and layered one and the actor is outstanding. Ditipriya, on the other hand, takes a backseat. The makers suddenly change her to be a naive one. As a result, the actress loses her shine. Similarly, Shyamal Chakraborty’s character, Rajeshwar, becomes one-diametrical and the actor often goes overboard. Madhurima Basak plays Shreya – a character that doesn’t seem to fit.

On the other hand, the series is lavishly shot. There is a scene where Mallika comes to meet Sounak. The shot looks ethereal. The music is loud yet fitting.

Abar Rajneeti verdict:

All said and done, both the seasons of Rajneeti are better than many of the web series we get to watch in Bangla. However, the second one falls short of the first one. It is still smart and pacy. Abar Rajneeti is worth a watch.
