Review:
It’s one thing if someone gets killed, while it’s a whole another thing when they come back to avenge it. I Know What You Did Last Summer is a tale of serial murders in a small beach town, which witnesses a lot of bloodshed and tangled mysteries.
A first-year college girl returns home to encounter her fate for what she did last summer with her high school friends. An unknown stalker is on a spree to make these young adults’ life hell. Meanwhile, her welcome in her own house is legit scary and creepy, which makes the first scene of the series engrossing. The whole fiasco takes her to the memory lane of the last summer, which sees a lot of partying, drugs and sex.
The first few minutes of the first episode of the show might feel like a normal American series, while till the end it becomes so intense that it makes you watch the whole show in one go. The second episode features the complicated relationship of the friends with each other. While some of them try to be the best friend there is, some of them doesn’t care at all.
The first murder starts with the end of the second episode and never stops and the continuous threat to these friends from an unknown human as well. The Lois Duncan novel of the same name, on which the series is based, doesn’t only focus on the mysteries within the protagonist and her friends but also the supporting characters of the show as well. The teen-slasher series seems even more gripping because it makes you doubtful for every character of the show about them being the murderer.
Sara Goodman vision of keeping the show running with two parallel stories is one of the great things about I Know What You Did Last Summer because it unfolds the mysteries one by one.
The number of murders has been increased to ‘a lot’ and now you just can’t wait to see who’s next, while the series’ first half ends. The teen-slasher series releases its first four-episode on October 15, while the rest of the episodes are going to be released on weekly basis.
Verdict:
The first half of the show will leave you intrigued to see that who knows what ‘they’ did last summer! Watch it and thanks us later.
