What’s it about:
Kriti is a short film about Sapan (Manoj Bajpayee), who has fallen in love, yet again, with a young girl named Kriti (Neha Sharma). The film takes an unexpected turn when Sapan’s psychiatrist, Dr Kalpana (Radhika Apte) questions if Kriti is real or a figment of Sapan’s imagination.
What’s hot:
After Sapan’s first session with Dr Kalpana, the audience is left questioning the existence of every character in the film. The film magnificently blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination and will be sure to give you chills.
This short film is one of the best psychological thrillers out there. In under 19 minutes, the audience is shocked, stunned and left guessing. The sequences of the film quickly unfold, adding to the thrill of watching it. No time is wasted when it comes to establishing the plot of the film. It is before the first five minutes itself, that the audience suspects something is amiss. The apt sound effects also lend to the elements of surprise in the film.
What’s not:
Kriti’s character seems like it could have had more depth. She suffers with Agoraphobia, the fear of open spaces and social settings. This disorder almost seems too convenient to the plot of the film.
In addition to this, the audience is also left wondering what led Sapan to go down the path he takes. However, this sense of mystery also lends to the theme of the film.
Verdict:
This short film is definitely a must-watch. The effects add to the cinematic experience of watching the film. Although not a horror film, it is sure to give viewers chills and leave them speculating and guessing what will happen next. It contains several twists and turns that are bound to keep viewers entertained and engaged at the same time.
