Story:

Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal is the latest three-episode documentary series that follows controversial events including multiple murders related to the famous Murdaugh family of Hampton of South Carolina.

Review:

Directed by Jenner Furst and Julia Willoughby Nason, the latest Netflix crime docuseries, Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal, is one of the many shows and podcasts that goes deep into the life and the scandals revolving around the "renowned" Murdaugh family. The other memorable documentary is the Discovery+ series Murdaugh Murders: Deadly Dynasty.

The latest docu-series begins with the accidental death of Mallory Beach during her boat ride with her friends including Miley, Anthony, Morgan, Conner and Paul Mardaugh. According to the statement of the rest of the people, the accident occurs solely because of Paul. His drunk and highly negligible state during riding the boat is touted as the main culprit in this accident.

However, Alex and his family leave no stone unturned to save their son. The show further showcases how Paul undergoes trial but still gets out on multiple occasions on bail every now-and-then, solely because of his lawyer father's connection. Moving on, the latest series takes the audience two years forward and sees Paul and his mother Maggie getting murdered. Guess who is linked to the case? Alex, the father/husband is behind the bars for their murder trial.

The show takes us almost half a decade back which unfolds another wrongdoing by the Murdaugh family. It does not end there (if you thought it would). There’s one more accident-cum-death that takes place a few years after.

In the end, the latest Netflix series informs that the court trials are still pending when it comes to Richard Alexander Murdaugh who famously goes by Alex Murdaugh, accused for the murder of his wife and son. This showcases one of the backdrops of Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal. As multiple shows and podcasts are out there, almost all of them provide similar info about the whole fiasco, in a slightly different manner.

The makers still successfully create an engaging and intriguing three-part show with the way they chronologize the whole series. It begins with one of the famous incidents and goes back-and-forth without losing the connection amid the scandals. The makers successfully keep the show engaging with first-hand information by the people who witnessed the horrific event and were related to it through the families.

Verdict:

Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal on Netflix is a definite watch to witness the rise and the fall of this influential family in a district of South Carolina.
