Story: The Perfect Find on Netflix delves into the complex dynamics between a 40-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, as they meet for a project as a fashion influencer and an aspiring filmmaker and give their hearts to each other. Through this unlikely connection, the movie witnesses the unique challenges and nuances that emerge during the exploration of age, ambition, and the pursuit of creative endeavours.
Review: Last week, an Hindi language web series named Badtameez Dil starring Barun Sobti and Ridhi Dogra reminded us of a lot of classic Hollywood rom-coms such as He's Just Not That Into You and Friends with Benefits among others. Meanwhile, The Perfect Find doesn't remind but is one of those films a decade later.
The world comes crashing down for a 40-year-old woman after she gets out of a 10-year-old serious relationship as well as loses her high-paying fancy job in the fashion world. However, she finds refuge in an old arch-rivals fashion house. At first, she unknowingly and then knowingly gives her heart to her new boss' 20-something-year-old son.
Keith Powers' Eric and Gabrielle Union's Jenna Jones find peace and love in each other when they meet for a project as a fashion monga and an aspiring filmmaker respectively in the latter's mother's hot-shot company.
The romantic drama flick keeps you hooked due to its visually appealing factors including a beautiful-looking cast with so much style and fashion in almost every shot. However, Leigh Davenport's screenplay on the adaptation of Tia Williams' book The Perfect Find soon starts to appear boring as you realise that it's the same old story of two people falling in love and navigating through the rollercoaster ride of issues and troubles until their happily ever after.
Keith Powers and Gabrielle Union's kick-ass performances and perfect chemistry make you go aww. Meanwhile, the Suits fame Gina Torres will make you reminisce about her boss vibes as Jessica Pearson from the hit legal drama series but with a twist of humour and even more style.
Director Numa Perrier has tried his best to blend this glamourised, fashion-driven film with a perfect love story yet missed to hit the right spot.
Verdict: Even after lazy writing, the actors keep the ship afloat with their incredible screen presence. The Perfect Find should be tuned in on Netflix only for Keith Powers, Gabrielle Union and the most enchanting Gina Torres.
