Review:
Dice Media’s What The Folks has always been concerned about making their stans feel warm. Let it be family or couple drama, fights or tensions or anything sour, the team has always pulled it off in a possibly lighter way, which would give anyone a feel-good watch. The second episode of the season finale does the same. It once again portrays how mellow the relationships of WTF family are.
Picking up from the last episode, Anita’s parents could be seen worried about Akshita’s fiance Sid, as they have not met him or know anything about him. Since Akshita has been so uptight about her parents not respecting her choices, they approach their beloved son-in-law. Nikhil seems to be in a complicated situation as he doesn't really want to be nosy about Sid nor could he deny his in-laws’ emotional blackmailing.
The team has presented the situation in a funny as well as decent manner. The cast have balanced their performances in the classic WTF style as always, and gave us a delightful lead as well. Though there are fuming flames inside, once again the family has shown how close and warm they are to each other and how important are their relationships.
Though the second episode is almost entirely taking place in Nikhil and Anita’s apartment, one couldn’t feel it is dull or repetitive. The episode also gives a social message, as they discuss Nikhil and Anita’s decision towards adopting. When Sid asks won’t they have a child of their own some day, the couple smiles and asks him how could the child not be their own, if they raise them together in their own house. In fact it is enchanting to see a series like WTF dealing with social concerns, as it is sure to impact and influence a wide range of audiences.
Verdict:
The series is a definite recommendation if you love to watch relatable family dramas along with fun and wits.
