After finishing 15th in the Premier League last season and missing out on European football after a defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur, Ruben Amorim has looked desperate to change the fortune of the club. Along with bringing a few new habits, he has tried to bring new players to the squad, leaving a few who he felt were not good enough. Marcus Rashford was sent on loan to FC Barcelona, while no contract was extended with Christian Eriksen as well.

Meantime, Amorim first signed Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha to strengthen the attack. Diego León was brought in to handle the defensive responsibilities. However, Ruben was always looking to buy more strikers as he had his eyes on Sesko for a long time. This deal will surely give Amorim more versatility in his attack when the season starts on 16th August.
