Exclusive! Cafu on World Cup: Kolkata is crazy for football just like Brazil

Football world cup is just around the corner and Kolkata’s football lovers are already bust buying jerseys of their favourite teams. Traditionally, the rivalry between Brazil and Argentina is an integral part of Kolkata’s culture. This time, the arrival of legendary footballer and Brazil’s World Cup-winning captain Cafu fanned the rivalry a bit more. 

Cafu took part in a friendly match at Maidan and scored two goals. Meanwhile, he also attended a cake-mixing event at Novotel. In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, the Brazilian defender said that he is completely aware of the raging rivalry between Brazil and Argentina in the City of Joy. He said, “Kolkata is crazy for football just like Brazil.” He also said that he hopes to see India playing in the World Cup in the future. Cafu visited Kolkata in 2012 and this time, he said that the city has changed. 

Cafu has also tried the famous Bengali food in Kolkata. “Chicken, salad and pasta and some chocolate-based Bengali sweets,” he said. 

Meanwhile, along with Akriti Kakkar, director Satrajit Sen, and Abhishek Dutta, Cafu took part in a gala cake-mixing ceremony at the hotel. With Christmas around the corner, the city is gearing up to prepare Christmas cakes. “We are delighted and honoured to have Brazilian Football Legend Cafu with us for this event making it an exciting and memorable one. Along with Cafu, we have a few prominent personalities who graced us with their presence,” said the general manager of the hotel, Arjun Kaggallu.
